The True Servants Of ar-Rahmaan

Allah (SWT) outlines in Surah al Furqan the relationship between Man and his Creator. The qualities and characteristics that one should aspire to in order to claim the honorary title of 'Servant of the Most Merciful' are presented. So how can one hope to inculcate some of the following pre-requisites: humbleness, humility in speech, patience, abstention from sin, spending in the way of Allah (SWT)
Backbiting - A Form Of Cannibalism

The act of backbiting has been declared prohibited in Islam. This is the only religion which has declared it to be haram, however its nature is detested in all cultures. Yes, in this age, due to our pitiful state it is overlooked, but the word used to refer to the act 'backbiting' even in the English language, signifies its graveness. The Quran calls it cannibalism and the English language implies the same. The sin of backbiting is grave indeed and its consequences are very severe, yet we overlook or explain it away. Our excuses may appease those around us today but on the Day of Judgment we will be held to account.

How to Acheive Steadfastness

A commonly asked question, “How is it possible for one to achieve steadfastness in religion.” Unfortunately, there is no quick fix or instant solution to the above question. However, Allah, and his prophet (SAW) have explicitly stated that the believers, who remain steadfast after expressing faith, have been promised immense rewards in this world and in the hereafter. Learn how one can maintain the energy, zeal and consistency in religion throughout one’s life.
The Globalised Suffering of the Muslims

All over the globe one hears of Muslims being oppressed and suffering at the hands of tyrannical rulers and their allies despite having control over the majority of the Worlds natural resources. An explanation of a hadith and its relation to the current day situation where the noble Prophet (SAW) prophesised how the nations will gather against the Muslims before the end of time makes up the opening part of this speech. Events in Macedonia, Albania, Chechnya are mentioned and in particular the plight of the Palestinians. Muslims are reminded that we are not to despair as Allah promises that He and His Messengers will reign supreme and His assistance is near.
Islamic Education in the West

The importance of Islamic education and learning is emphasised especially with regards to women. The responsibility incumbent on a believer in spreading the message of Allah and His Prophet (SAW) is outlined, as well as the possible consequences if we fail to collectively take part in fulfilling this responsibility. To spend in the way of Allah is a virtuous and desirable act and one is encouraged to do so as instructed in the holy Quran and Ahadeeth is touched upon in the latter section of the talk.

Love for the Prophet

One has not truly believed until he comes to love the Prophet of Allah (SAW) more than himself and the whole world. The discourse outlines how the Prophet of Allah (SAW) is more beloved to Allah than His Angels, and His whole creation. Achieving this most lofty state is the subject of this heart rendering and inspiring appeal to all who profess to love the Messenger of Allah (SAW).
Me, Myself, and I

‘None of you has truly believed, until he desires for his brother, that which he desires for himself’ declared the Prophet (SAW) . One can never hope to attain Taqwa (fear of Allah) and be truly successful in religion until one adopts and practices selflessness. Islam has placed a great emphasis on the spirit of sacrifice within many of it\'s teachings. It is however, a sad fact that many Muslims have adopted the selfish ills of the non-Muslims.
Satanic Whispers

As humans we are all victims of the satanic onslaught of evil and insidious thoughts. Only the Prophets (AS) have been granted immunity and protection from shaytan’s whispers. Such thoughts can range from satanic whispers during our salaah, to questions regarding predestination. The aim of these satanic whispers needs to be understood. Their purpose is to deter one from the remembrance and worship of Allah. A cure for these whispers is contained therein.
Silence is Salvation

The excellence of silence over vain speech is valued and exhorted by Allah and His Prophet (SAW). How exactly does the unspoken word have as far reaching consequences as the spoken word and what are the conditions and circumstances in which the Quran and Sunnah instruct us to speak?. Essential listening in a time where the deeds of the tongue are deemed lighter than that of the hand but the reality is rather different.
Sins of the Tongue in Perspective

Unfortunately many Muslims today have adopted the non-Islamic thinking of the kuffar “sticks and stones break bones words never hurt”. Hence the sins of the tongue are belittled when in fact Islam holds them a degree higher than the sins of the flesh. A number of examples are taken from the ahadith in support of this. Sins such as murder, theft, adultery etc are frowned upon as these are abhorred by the society we live in, however sins such as backbiting, lying, dishonouring another person etc are viewed as being of much lesser evil. The tongue can lead one to fall flat on ones face in hell and we are continuously reminded to safeguard this bodily organ lest it be the cause of our destruction!
Steadfastness in the Face of Adversity

It is far easier to begin something and to stop than it is to see it through to its end. Similarly in religion people worship Allah when they are in need or when they are happy but the moment a calamity was to befall them or their need is fulfilled, they become removed from the remembrance of Allah . Why has the Noble Prophet (SAW) likened the believer to be like the sturdy palm tree and the hypocrite to be like a bushy tree? The answer to this as well as some essential advice is contained therein.
The Signs of Allah

Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, the eclipse, twisters, earthquakes, the millennium and the occupation of the holy city of Jerusalem…etc. In a day and age in which mankind is witnessing the onslaught of recurring natural disasters at an unprecedented rate we must ask ourselves “What is the cause of such devastation?”. The talk outlines how Allah gives mankind many signs to reflect over and remind him of his purpose in life. A thought provoking talk!

The Prophet (SAW) has prophesised in many ahadeeth a number of fitan (tribulations) that will arise amongst the people towards the Day of Judgement.
